While we have a number of very important priorities at Ride Guides, your safety, your guides safety and the safety of others is paramount. Having an incredible time on one of our experiences is only going to happen if everyone remains safe. All too often the critical safety aspects of what we do as cyclists is put by the wayside in favour of having a good time. This is something that should never happen, no matter how much fun you are anticipating having.

When Mountain Biking, we find ourselves in remote areas nearly 100% of the time, and when Road Biking you can be miles and miles from the nearest medical facility. When people think about injury in cycling, the mind naturally gravitates towards injuries sustained through a fall or collision. What many people seem to forget is that illnesses like heat exhaustion, dehydration are much more common and can quickly escalate into life-threatening situations. When you understand that getting immediate critical care medical attention is a near impossibility in many locations where we ride, it is important that your guiding organization has a serious commitment to safety. We like to think our commitment to safety is the best there is:

  • All Guides are First Aid Certified (Backcountry Guides are Wilderness & Remote First Aid Certified)
  • All Guides are equipped with fully stocked, and non-expired First Aid Kits
  • All Guides are equipped with GPS units for relaying location coordinates to emergency services
  • All Guides are required to carry cell phones and/or VHF radios
  • All Guides are required to carry Gels and additional nutritional provisions
  • Ride Guides maintains a comprehensive Emergency & Risk Management plan
  • Ride Guides requires our guides to take a yearly re-certification course
  • Maximum Rider to Guide ratio of 6:1
We have a spotless safety record, and intend to keep it that way. Cycling is inherently dangerous and while it is impossible to remove all of the risks from cycling, we can absolutely promise to do everything in our power to mitigate those risks.

If you have any questions about our safety procedures, protocols or our risk management plan, please do not hesitate to contact us as we would be happy to assist you.
