Itinerary

Day One – Kolapore Uplands

You’ll meet your guides and anyone riding with us for the day. After the introductions, we’ll load the bikes and make the quick jaunt over to the trailhead. The drive over to Kolapore will give you barely enough time to get yourself amped up for a solid day of riding. We’ll drop everyone and all the equipment off at the east entrance to Kolapore and we’ll be up and riding in no time gobbling up miles and miles of sweet westerly singletrack. At the halfway mark, now is about the time to take a wee bit of break, get some snacks in our bellies and recharge the batteries. After the break its a bit of everything as we head into the southern most reaches of Kolapore after cutting right through Little Germany. We’ll finish where we started, throw the bikes on the racks, and make a break for it. The drive into Collingwood will be full of accolades of the days riding but we won’t hold it against you if you wanna take a quick nap in the truck. Soon enough we’ll find ourselves touring through the natural wonderland of the Scenic Caves. Perhaps you want to take a walk on the 420 foot suspension bridge? You’ll get dropped off at your accommodations for the evening where you can take a well deserved “load off”, hop in the tub and soak those muscles, and maybe hand out by the fire pit. Our guides will give you some direction if you so desire on places you can go and people you can trust for a great time that evening, but don’t be out too late, tomorrow will be here sooner than you think.

Day Two – 3-Stage

We’ll let you sleep in a bit, after all this is a vacation right? If you forgot who your guide was, now is the perfect opportunity to pretend like you remember as they go over the plan for the day. We’ll get all your luggage packed up and get cracking! Its a quick jaunt over to the 3-Stage North trailhead so we’ll start rolling shortly after we meet. You will be welcomed to this beast with some lovely flowy hard-pack, followed by the infamous rocks that will make you wonder why you had to have just one more beer the night before. Its OK though, you’ll sweat it out soon enough. A quick pit stop in “The Valley” for a tasty lunch and someone will likely take a dip. We hope you remembered your favorite padded undershorts otherwise you may just be skinny dipping (we won’t tell anyone). So now that you have had a chance to relax, lets put the pedal to the metal and chew up and spit out everything the south end of the park can throw at us. We’ll suddenly find ourselves back where we started wondering where the day went, and likely wondering how we managed to ride so much in just two short days. But before we leave for good, on our way out we will be swinging by the Creemore Springs brewery to sample their works. When we are all finished up, we’ll take you back to your vehicle and soon enough you’ll be on your way.

What To Bring

Your Mountain Bicycle

Making sure you bring a good, high-quality Mountain Bike with you is hugely important to the success of your riding adventure. Riding on safe equipment is paramount and we want to make sure you have a great time out there. For those without a mountain bicycle, or perhaps a sub-standard bicycle, we have a wide selection of affordable, high-end rental bikes available.

We have put together the following recommendations to give you a little guidance towards bike selection. Also, we understand that some people may have different mountain bicycle configurations, such as a single-speed or a fully-rigid and in those cases we ask that you contact us and make us aware of the bicycle type you intend to ride so that we can better advise you of your options. Again, if you have any doubts or questions feel free to reach out – we’ll be glad to help!

  • Your Mountain Bike MUST be in good working order
  • Tires are at least 1.9″ Wide and are knobby
  • We recommend you use a bicycle with Disc Brakes
  • We recommend you have a suspension fork (80mm-160mm)
  • We recommend at least a 2x front chainring configuration
  • We recommend at least a 9x rear cassette

Riding Equipment

On top of your mountain bike, there are a couple of other items that you will need to bring for your safety. Without these items, you will not ride and that will be sad for everyone. If you don’t possess these items, we can help you out by renting them to you for the duration of your ride:

  • Bicycle Helmet approved by CSA, EN, ASTM, CPSC or Snell B90/B95
  • Water Bottle(s) or Hydration System
  • Protective Eyewear / Glasses
On top of the critical safety items, there are a number of other items we recommend you bring with you if you have them – they will make your experience more enjoyable:
  • Riding Gloves
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect Repellent

Tools

One of the advantages of going out with Ride Guides is that you won’t need to worry too much about tools. Our guides will ALWAYS be equipped with EVERYTHING on this list. However, we do understand that some people would rather bring their own tools and that’s fine, but you are more than welcome to use ours:

  • Multi-tool with Allen wrenches
  • Spoke Wrenches
  • Chain Tool
  • Zip Ties
  • 300psi Shraeder Shock Pump
  • Tire Pump (Presta and Shraeder)
  • Tire Levers

Spare Parts

Whenever you are venturing out on a ride, you should always keep spares of parts which are more prone to failure. Here is a list of the spares that we recommend you bring with you on your ride. Remember, if you have a mechanical failure while you are in the bush, it is usually a long and boring walk out:

  • Inner Tubes (2x)
  • Masterlink / Speedlink / Powerlink
  • Derailleur Hanger

Clothing

It is important to make sure that you are dressed appropriately for the weather. Mountain Biking is a strenuous physical activity so you also want to be sure the clothing you are wearing allows for good breathe-ability. when in doubt, dress in layers which can be easily removed and stowed. Some areas of the trail can be prone to poison ivy at different times throughout the season, so you will likely want covering on your lower legs to help prevent exposure. Another key clothing item is padded riding shorts. These shorts can help save your butt from a couple hours of saddle punishment, and we highly recommend them.
